Sino-Skos Rugby Mini World Cup Tournament

Rugby Fever With Sino-Skos

In the opening of the Spring season, Sino-Skos in partnership with Soweto Eagles Rugby Club hosted a rugby mini world cup tournament on Saturday, 02 September 2023 at Jabulani Technical High School in Soweto.

As the Rugby World Cup will take place in France from Friday, 08 September 2023 till Saturday, 28 October 2023, the tournament aimed to take back rugby to the people of local communities and schools.

The tournament also aimed to teach children around Soweto more about rugby.

Additionally, Sino-Skos aimed in introducing rugby to children at primary schools known as tag rugby.

The tournament included a total of 289 participants.

During the course of the day, twelve (12) primary schools including Busisiwe Primary School, Kholwane Primary School and Lifereng Primary School played against each other on tag rugby.

“I am happy to see these minor children enjoying themselves,” said Paseka Mavimbela, Sino-Skos organiser of the mini rugby tournament.

Not only did Jabulani Technical High School host Sino-Skos, but the U/16 junior boys won against Kawdedangedlala High School. Meanwhile, U/18 senior boys from Letare High School won against Lavela Secondary School.

Different stakeholders were invited which also sponsored the event and made it to be a success.
